Review: Pinterest

pinterest.com

Not sure how many of you have heard of Pinterest, but it is the latest social media website and I am highly addicted to it!

IN A NUTSHELL: it is an online pinboard-you are able to "pin" photos of things that inspire you, that you like, that you think look cool, etc etc! It is a great tool if you are planing something and want to stay organized using photos.

What:
For example, a wedding- you would create a board titled "Wedding" or what have you, and then you are able to pin photos from websites, and repin other user's pins (this is usually what happens) By the end of your pinning you will have tons of photos. You can make comments to help you remember what about the pin you liked or what you wanted to do with it. You are also able to share this with your friends and other users. It is great if you are doing a reno' (like myself). I can keep photos of decor ideas that inspire me, and colours I would like to see in my room.

It allows you see a visual mind map of what you friends, family, brands, and even celebrities are thinking, liking and following.

How:
All you need to do is: a) sign-up (at the moment you'll need to either request an account or have someone with an account to send you an invite) b) save the "pin it" button onto your bookmark tool bar and you are set!

Conclusion:
Similar to Twitter, Pinterest is user-friendly and simple without too many complex formatting or coding or what have you. I believe it has a 50/50 chance of being great. It is a clever and very simple to use. Once more people get a chance to join, it should be able to grow and become a success.

Starting Pinning for yourself!

From Pinterest Site:
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes

Mission:
Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.
